Hillfields Walking Group celebrated their 5th Birthday walk on 20th April 2010.

The group returned to Fishponds after a wonderful morning in the Frome Valley for food and drinks... a wonderful group made up of lots of people from various backgrounds. New members are very welcome.

If you haven't come on a Hillfields group walk before then come and give it a try?

Perhaps you work in the health / activity promotion field? Come and experience a health walk so you can promote
it to clients and colleagues you work with...

The valley routes are a little harder but very enjoyable and rewarding.

Valley Walks

Hillfields to Begbrook Route
Recommended and very adaptable.

This is a very enjoyable and scenic route. From the top of Hillfields Park, walk through the park to Beechen Drive, at the bottom turn left and walk to Forest Road. Go over the Railway Path using the bridge and then take the 2nd left (Radley Road). At the bottom use the crossing and cross the Straights Parade, then walk down Oldbury Court Road.
At the bottom you will arrive at Oldbury Court Park. Walk in to the park and when you arrive close to the children's play area there is a path on your right, crossing the fields, take this path and stay on this route, walk through the woodlands, passing the small cliffs on a small decline until the end where you will arrive at our 17th Century, Frenchay Bridge.
Walk across the bridge, turn right and walk up the hill until you reach the top, then turn left on to Frenchay Common and before you should be St John the Baptist Church and set back again is The White Lion pub for some refreshments.
Now you can either walk back the same way or come out on to Frenchay Road, take a left and walk until Frome Valley Road on your left. (local shops). At the end is a public footpath where you'll walk down in to the Frome Valley, cross the foot bridge and go straight up at the other side. This will bring you to College Road and the UWE. Find Fishponds Road (very easy) and make your way home..

Greater Fishponds Walks

Greater Fishponds is a beautiful area which is steeped in history and built on woodland which was popular with Kings for over 1000 years. Today the area offers a cosmopolitan experience, connected by urban areas which are fairly modern in some parts to St George and Stapleton which are very historic areas with miles of open spaces, accessible to a range of wonderful pubs and a range of district centres.
Walk the Open Space or the Boundary Route and see just how beautiful it all is for youself.
