Greater Fishponds has been home to students for over 100 years and since the University of the West of England (UWE) was formed in 1992 after 400 years in the making.. Fishponds has benefitted in so many ways from the success and growth of the university and UWE's range of courses; bringing talent right here to our community from across the UK and from around the world!
As a result of this talent we have become one of the regions most cosmopolitan areas with a range of cafe's, restaurants, pub chains, student accommodation, infrastructure investment and a supermarket hub! IKEA Bristol has played a large part in making Greater Fishponds in to a retail hotspot as well, putting Eastgate on the map.

Greater Fishponds is very historic and with thousands of students now studying, living and working here; the very heart of our community is bustling with various talent both throughout the day and in to the evenings. In 2011 Fishponds took Bristol's Local History award for the heritage work that's happening here in Stapleton, Fishponds which is home to two UWE campuses and is just a short walk from Frenchay Campus.

Sadly, St Matthias Campus of the UWE is planned to close in 2012, however central Fishponds will strive forward as a preferred student area for housing, employment and socialising. Not forgetting that Fishponds is home to students from City of Bristol College, Bristol University, Sixth Form Colleges and Filton College as well.. plus, where is closer to the main campus at Frenchay just a short walk from Begbrook and Stapleton in Greater Fishponds offering riverside walks, countryside views and Oldbury Court Estate, one of the finest estates in Bristol.. If it's location, breathing places, opportunity and accessibility that you're looking for as part of your student experience, then spend a year in Fishponds.

This medical centre used to be based on Lodge Causeway and moved to Fishponds Park area a few years ago in order to expand the practice and serve our community smarter; there's now a pharmacy on site to serve patients faster, car parking, specialist doctors and senior nurses.
