Hillfields Community Trust hillfieldscommunitytrust.org.uk
For the furtherance of the community facilities in Hillfields and surrounding areas. With the furtherance of education of people living and working in the area. HCT are looking for an army of members across Hillfields.
Branching Out Community Centre.
2012 marks not only the Diamond Jubilee but also the diamond year of the Hillfields Park Community Centre which took 21 years to plan and develop with work completed in late 1951 on the community centre and in 1953 on the youth centre alongside. These buildings were developed by volunteers and news spread across the UK of this wonderful story and shortly after the Queens Coronation in 1953, the Duke of Edinburgh kindly visited the two centres during his visit to Bristol. Hillfields Youth Centre was redeveloped during the late 1980's by Bristol Council who controlled the youth building by then but unfortunately the community centre wasn't updated by the committee and fell in to decline and was demolished in 2004. The Hillfields Community Trust are now working to rebuild the Community Centre and call it Branching Out as part of a Diamond Jubilee project to help return a real sense of community to Hillfields after 75% of Hillfields community buildings have been lost during the past 25 years including Hillfields Park Baptist Church Scout Hut visit: hillfieldscommunitytrust.org.uk
