Brunel Care
A wonderful organisation with an excellent centre in the heart of Greater Fishponds to serve all elderly and disadvantaged people in the wider community.

One of the best facilitities for elderly and disadvantaged people in Greater Fishponds is Brunel Care at Colliers Gardens where people from our community are always put first and the building is wonderful, accessible and affordable to all day care centre users.

Mainly for the over 55s, Brunel Care in Fishponds has a wonderful lounge and restaurant area where people can relax and socialise, meet friends and make new friends while hot drinks start from just 40p and main meals are £2.60 or less. The Brunel Care Social Planner (Programme of Events) is designed to cater for most people's needs and interests and everyday of the week is different. Brunel Care Bathroom

The private bathroom facilities are available at £15 per hour or £7.50 for 30 minutes etc. You'll recieve all of the care that you require with full assistance by professional equipment and staff for your safety and to ensure that you are cleansed and cared for by caring and experienced staff.

There is a collection service to pick you up from your home and return you sefely as well if you would like this and you can spend hours at the centre to enjoy more activities including diner, activities and discussion etc.

Based right here in Fishponds is Bristol Dial-A-Ride for people with accessibilty restraints, and others. It's free to join and free to use for anyone with a free bus-pass. Please visit: bristoldialaride.org.uk

Bristol Dial a Ride

We provide a citywide service for any resident of Bristol who has difficulty using conventional public transport. Membership is free and members can travel free of charge if they have a bus pass.

We also offer an organisational membership for groups to hire our vehicles/drivers and publish a day trips programme every quarter which is very popular. We also offer volunteering opportunities and do quite a lot of outreach work to encourage isolated people to get out more.

The Vassall Centre - People with disabilities

Vassall Centre Trust and the Greater Fishponds Pride of Place Award

The Vassall Centre Trust, a charity led by disabled people, is transforming a former military hospital in Fishponds to make it fully accessible for people with all forms of impairment, to empower them and enable them to work on equal terms with non-disabled people. Our fully accessible Vassall Conference Centre is based within the Vassall Centre and helps local groups and businesses serving our community. Members of the Vassall Centre team here in the picture are also helping to champion the local community of Oldbury Court. The Pride of Place Award for Local History thanking the charity for 13 years of hard work, change, preservation and saved heritage as well as countless community activities. Visit: vassallcentre.org

Young and Free is a social befriending scheme which aims to enable young physically and/or sensory disabled adults to build a social network of non-disabled friends.   It is run by our members and volunteers for the benefit of everyone involved and covers all of Bristol and surrounding areas.

Hillfields Young Mothers Group is located in a Youth Centre on a local authority housing estate in East Bristol. The project has many strands that all aim to deliver accessible services to young parents and those at risk of becoming young parents not only in in the Hillfields area but city wide.

The project provides a young women’s group that meets on Monday and Friday between 12.00 and 2.30 during term time at the youth centre. The group is open to pregnant young women and young mother’s ages16 to 25 yrs and there is a creche that offers child care for babies and children aged between 0 to 5.

Times: Monday 12.00pm - 2:30pm and Friday 12.00pm - 2:30pm
